Tour to Turkmenistan – The Heart of Asia
We would like to offer you great tour around the snow-white marble city the capital of Turkmenistan – Ashgabat, the Caspian Sea coast resort, Izmukshir-ruined castle and tour around Dashoguz, Ancient City Kunya Urgench, Flaming gas crater Darwaza, also known as “Doors to Hell” and Ancient city of Merv. Duration of the tour across Turkmenistan is 10 days and 9 nights.
Day 1
Arrival to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Check-in at the hotel.
Day 2
Fascinating journey through Turkmenistan will begin with a visit to the ruins of the ancient city of Old Nisa, located in the foothills of the Kopet Dag Mountains, in a several kilometers away from Ashgabat.
After acquainting with Nisa, you will visit the National Museum of Turkmenistan, located at the foothills of the Kopet Dag Mountains, on the outskirts of Ashgabat. National Museum of Turkmenistan, opened in 1998 spread over 105,000 square meters and accommodate more than 150 000 exhibits and rare finds of archaeologists. The museum consists of three wings, each of them tells a separate stage in the history of Turkmenistan and its territory. After museum, our guests would have a chance to appreciate two main symbols of Ashgabat and whole Turkmenistan – Monument of Independence and Arc of Neutrality. Seeking in to the sky, structures symbolize Turkmenistan in the 21st century -progress, innovation, spirituality.
In the afternoon you can visit and take a walk on one of Ashgabat bazaars.
Day 3
Flight to Turkmenbashi city, and a trip to a resort area of Avaza on a coast of the Caspian Sea. Here you will be accommodated to the hotel, then you will have an opportunity to walk through the Avaza, see the sights and relax on the beach.
During the day you will have time to visit the local fish market where you can find a large number of gifts of the Caspian Sea; make a boat trip and visit the local museum.
Day 4
After lunch, you will fly from Turkmenbashi to Dashoguz city. After checking into the hotel – city tour and a trip to the ancient city Izmukshir.
Izmukshir, also known as Zamakshar. Buried under the sand, the ancient fortress holds many secrets. Length of the wall, preserved to our times is about 1500 meters, it stretches along the crescent-shaped trench whose depth in some places reaches 16 meters. Appeared in the 3rd century BC, Izmukshir flourished in 9-12 century.
Time and desert didn’t spare Izmukshir fortress, and today, most of it is buried under the sand. But a few buildings can describe the scale and monumentality of its former greatness.
Fortress with more than two thousand years of history changed many rulers and entire dynasties of Ghaznavid and Seljuk to Karakhanids and Khorezmshah.
Day 5
This day will be one of the most intense and emotional during your visit to Turkmenistan.
First thing you will be able to visit is the ancient city of Kunya Urgench. The ancient capital of Khorezm, which arose in the 1st century BC. Here lived and worked great scholars and writers of antiquity. Lexicographer Al Buruni well-known Abu Ali ibn Sina, familiar to everyone as Avicenna lived and worked in Kunya Urgench. The city was attacked many of times since the 13th century, it was captured by the Tatar-Mongol yoke, Genghis Khan and later by Tamerlane. For these and many other reasons, monuments and buildings of the city came to us in a very damaged state. But they admire nonetheless.
Well, after a walk in to the history of the ancient Kunya Uregnch, you would have a chance so see “The Gates to Hell” in Darwaza. It would be a great trip through Karakum Desert and the most positive emotions. Here you will spend a night and next day morning, before moving on …
Day 6
After breakfast you will go to Ashgabat, but on the way a short stop at the Kekirdek village. Here you will have a great opportunity to get to know about the life of the Turkmen nomads, stroll through the village and talk to people.
After that 110 kilometers of road to Ashgabat. The desert will accompany you almost all the road to the capital, beautiful scenery guaranteed. Well, upon arrival you will be able to relax and unwind at the hotel.
Day 7
Excursion through Ashgabat. After breakfast, you will visit the stables, situated in Geok-Depe, near Ashgabat. Here you will see the proud of Turkmen people – Akhal-Teke horses.
Next you will visit the mosque and mausoleum, named after the first president of Turkmenistan. His body rests here.
In the afternoon you can visit the Gulistan market in the center of Ashgabat, popularly called “Russian”. Here you can find everything from small souvenirs until the carpets and paintings.
Day 8
Next morning, flight to Mary city, which would take about 50 minutes. After checking into the hotel, trip to the ancient city of Merv, one of the oldest in Central Asia. History of Merv counts thousands of years and we have found just some of the ancient buildings. Here lived and worked great scholars of Asia, and the city was the capital of many dynasties and states.
Day 9
Today you would continue study and travel through antiquities of Mary. Next step – Margush. At evening flight back to Ashgabat.
Day 10
The end of trip through Turkmenistan. Hope to see you again.
